Office in Mukhrani Village

The project represents an office building for a large walnut plantation. Its design is closely connected to the surrounding landscape.

The site is located in Mukhrani village, in the eastern part of Georgia. The lowlands in this area are extremely fertile for agriculture. This 177-hectare area is dedicated to the walnut plantations. The project’s function is to create service buildings for planning, promoting and taking care of the walnut plantation business.

Three independent buildings are located on the artificial hill and form an island separated from the agricultural and processing area. This elevated ground creates a great panorama on the landscape.

The buildings form a courtyard in the middle and have various visual connections to the surrounding. The first building is the office, the second is the meeting room and a catering area unit while the third is a four-room residence.

Three separate buildings are positioned in a triangle with various angles to the site from each unit. Entering the site, the first welcoming building is the office. A laser cut image on the facade is inspired by a Georgian sign of an eternal rotation and movement. It is designed by a Georgian artist Tamuna Melikishvili and is a lucky symbol for all the future activities of this plantation. The meeting and catering building is aligned to the walnut processing area. The third residential building has a spectacular large view on the walnut plantations and on the surrounding mountains.

The structure of each building is a steel frame with flat roof with dimensions of 24x6 meters. The facade finishing is weathered metal sheets and aluminum window framing. This kind of structure allows large openings for the outdoor views. The outdoor barbecue area along the catering unit is covered with wooden beams and isolated from the rest of the space with a green bamboo wall. The slope of the hill is planted with lavender. The pavement is made of reused wooden railway beams.
